Window Cleaning in Calgary

Glass is only half the job. We hand-clean the frames, tracks and sills too, treat the hard-water spotting Calgary is famous for, and finish streak-free — inside and out.

Windows don't get dirty evenly. The outside collects road film, sprinkler over-spray and the mineral spotting our hard water leaves behind; the inside picks up dust, cooking residue and fingerprints. Cleaning one side and not the other, or wiping the glass while ignoring the tracks, is why windows look 'clean' for about a day.

Unlike our carpet and upholstery work, window cleaning isn't a steam-extraction job — it's a detailing job. We wash, blade the glass down streak-free, then hand-detail the edges and corners where cloths leave marks, and clear out the frames, tracks and sills that collect grit and dead flies over a season.

We do interior and exterior glass for houses and businesses, and there are no travel surcharges for the surrounding communities. The light coming through afterward is the whole point.

The method

Our window method

We start by clearing loose debris from tracks and sills so it doesn't smear onto wet glass. The glass is washed with the right solution for the level of grime, then squeegeed in overlapping passes and the edges detailed by hand — the corners are where streaks hide.

Frames, tracks and sills are wiped down as their own step, not an afterthought, and we do both faces of the glass wherever access allows so the pane is genuinely clear rather than clean-on-one-side. On stubborn mineral spotting we switch to a treatment made for it (see below) instead of scrubbing at etched glass.

Hard-water spots and mineral etching

Calgary's water is hard, and when droplets from a sprinkler, a hose or a chinook rain dry on the glass they leave mineral deposits that ordinary cleaner smears around rather than removes. Fresh spotting lifts with a proper mineral treatment.

Deposits that have sat for years can begin to etch the glass itself, which is permanent — at that point cleaning improves it but can't fully erase it, and we'll be honest about the difference between 'dirty' and 'etched' before we quote.

Screens, tracks and sills

Tracks are where a window quietly gets gross — grit, pollen and insect debris pack into the channels and the weep holes. We clear and wipe them as part of the job so the window slides and seals the way it should, and we'll knock the dust off removable screens while they're out.

Timing it for a Calgary year

Late spring, once the melt is done and before the summer dust, and early fall are the sweet spots. We clean year-round, but there's little point doing exteriors the week before a big snow — we'll help you pick timing that actually holds.

Questions people ask about this

Do you clean the inside and outside of the windows?
Yes — both faces wherever access allows, since cleaning only one side is why windows look streaky a day later. We also do the frames, tracks and sills as part of the job.
Can you remove hard-water stains from the glass?
Fresh mineral spotting, yes, with a treatment made for it. Deposits left for years can etch the glass permanently — we'll tell you honestly whether yours will fully clear or just improve before we quote.
Do you do the tracks and screens too?
Tracks and sills are included — they're where most of the grit and grime actually sits. We'll clear removable screens while they're out as well.
What about second-storey or hard-to-reach windows?
We handle typical residential heights safely. Send photos of anything unusual — awkward access, very high panes — and we'll confirm what we can reach before booking.
When's the best time of year to clean windows in Calgary?
Late spring after the melt and early fall are ideal. Our guide on prepping windows for winter freezes covers the seasonal reasons in more detail.
